Structure of the School Day

A Balanced and Purposeful Learning Day

At Themis International Secondary School, Teaching and Learning is carefully structured to support academic learning, personal development, and student wellbeing. A balanced timetable supports the development of the child and their progress in all subjects while also benefiting them from breaks, enrichment activities, and pastoral support.

Daily Schedule Overview

Morning Arrival

  • Campus opens: 7:20 am
  • Students are expected to arrive before 7.40 am to ensure a calm and focused start to the day.
  • Morning supervision is provided for student safety.

Academic Sessions

  • Lessons begin: 7:40 am
  • The school day consists of structured teaching periods in line with our chosen curriculum.
  • Lessons are designed to be interactive, engaging, age-appropriate and challenging to support pupil progress.

Break Times

  • Scheduled breaks at 10.00 am are built into the day to allow students time to rest, socialise, and recharge ready for more effective learning
  • Break times are supervised to ensure student safety and wellbeing.

Lunch Period

  • A dedicated 1hour lunch break at11.20 am provides students with time to eat, relax, and participate in informal social activities.
  • Healthy habits and respectful behaviour are encouraged during lunch.

After School Learning

  • Afternoon sessions may include academic lessons, practical activities, physical education, or enrichment programmes.
  • This time supports creativity, collaboration, and holistic development.

End of the School Day

  • Classes end: 2:20 pm
  • Campus closes: 4:00 pm
  • Students are dismissed in an orderly manner, with supervision provided until designated person or group has collected each pupil.

Pastoral Care and Wellbeing

Pastoral support is embedded throughout the school day. Teachers and staff monitor student wellbeing and provide guidance, encouragement, and support whenever needed.

We offer strategies that enhance pupil performance under our “Student Welfare and Guidance Programmes”.

Consistency and Flexibility

While the structure of the day remains consistent, adjustments may be made for:

  • Special events
  • Educational visits
  • Examinations
  • Enrichment activities
